2010 NUIT BLANCHE À MONTRÉAL at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
Montreal, February 1, 2010 – As part of the MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will take part in the Nuit Blanche à Montréal on February 27, 2010, and offer visitors a number of free activities, many on the theme of glass, from 5 p.m. to2 a.m. Visitors will also be granted half-price admission to the exhibition Tiffany Glass: A Passion for Colour ($7.50 instead of $15).
The magnificent objects and beautiful stained glass windows featured in this exhibition are sure to make visitors want to pursue their discovery of glass through a wide array of activities:
Creation of a collective work by recycling old baubles and glass marbles Festival-goers are invited to bring glass marbles and old jewellery to the Museum to participate in a collective work while learning more about the art of the mosaic. - 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. (free admission)
Glass-blowing demonstration This fascinating educational demonstration will show how glass-artists can stretch and transform glass into a multitude of shapes using a blowpipe and blowtorch. - 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. (free admission)
Vitr’ art Watch a stained glass demonstration given by participants in Vitr’Art, a programme designed to help street kids and marginalized youth develop life and professional skills by learning the art of stained glass. - 5 p. m to 9 p. m. (free admission)
Plus the following activities:
A fresco by François Turbide The artist will create a fresco in the Galleries of Contemporary Art. 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. (free)
A meeting with the ceramicist Laurent Craste Ceramicist and multidisciplinary artist Laurent Craste will reinterpret the classic theme of the still life through video installations in which decorative objects serve as projection screens for animated poetic motifs. He will be on hand from 6 p.m. to midnight. (free admission)
Drawing from the live model An opportunity to try out gesture drawing from the live model in the evocative nocturnal setting of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. A creatively tantalizing activity you won’t want to miss! - 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. (free admission)
Exhibition ONETOP ONETOP is an annual T-shirt design contest. During this night of fun and folly, see all the winning T-shirts in 2008 and 2009 in a special exhibition in the Museum’s underground galleries. A complimentary Nespresso coffee will be offered to visitors starting at 5 p.m. As of 10 p.m., visitors will also be offered a complimentary Boris drink. - 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. (free admission)

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ rest area at Place Bonaventure Festival-goers are invited to catch their breath at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ rest area at Place Bonaventure on furniture by Montreal designers recently exhibited in the Museum’s Design Lab. An initiative of Art Souterrain.
