Throughout the running of the exhibition Wanda Koop: WHO OWNS THE MOON, see two documentaries on the Canadian painter for free on the ARTS.FILM platform: the short film NIX and the feature length KOOP

These online film screenings are presented by the Festival international du film sur l’art and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The screenings have been made possible thanks to the financial support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts de Montréal and the Government of Quebec.

About the films
In KOOP, Painter Wanda Koop shows us what we missed the first time, what remains hidden, and makes us question how and what we see. “I paint it, and then I see it.” The visionary Canadian artist Wanda Koop is preparing massive new paintings of archetypal cities and familiar yet disquieting landscapes.

Directed by Katherine Knight | Canada | 2011 | 47 min | OEV | French subtitles

In NIX, an ethereal experience of light and weather unfolds within a temporary snow structure built on the frozen Nestaweya River Trail in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Invited by 2023 Warming Huts: An Arts + Architecture Competition on Ice, artist Wanda Koop, designer Thom Fougere and a team of snow experts build a contemporary snow fort that functions as an experiential work of land art. Light and sound reflect and reverberate within a polar vortex at the geographical centre of North America.

Directed by Katherine Knight and Anthony Von Seck | Canada | 2023 | 9 min 12 s | OEV | French subtitles
