The young photographer Aydin Matlabi, who was born in Tehran but grew up in Montreal, made several trips to Iran between 2006 and 2009. Searching for his own identity, he discovered the social and political realities of this paradoxical country, which seemed at once familiar and yet foreign. It was in portraying individuals, landscapes and street scenes from Iran that he captured the humanity of a society stereotyped by the Islamic Revolution.
