2010 Museum Ball

On November 20, guests donned their finery to celebrate the Museum’s 150th anniversary at the Museum Ball. The sumptuous evening unfolded under the distinguished patronage of Honorary Co-Presidents Monique F. Leroux, Chair of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group, and Eric R. La Flèche, President and Chief Executive Officer of METRO Inc., and Ball President Suzanne Legge Orr.

For the third year, designer Scott Yetman put his talents  to work to transform the galleries of the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion into an art lover’s dream. To mark this special occasion, the decor featured some beautiful works of art from the Museum’s collection, selected by Director and Chief Curator Nathalie Bondil according to colour themes. Thus, for one evening, guests could admire many works up close, including Lemoyne’s Dryden in the Red Room, Van Dongen’s Woman on a Sofa in the Green Room and Pellan’s Under the Blue Sun in the Blue Room.

In this lavish setting, even the menu created by Armando Arruda of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth honoured the Museum’s collection, especially the dessert, which was a miniature reproduction of Jim Dine’s Twin 6’ Hearts. A Museum icon, this work was the graphic symbol for the evening, emblazoned on the invitations, tickets and programme created by talented graphic designer Steve Louis.

The Volunteer Association wishes to recognize the great generosity of the corporations, sponsors, donors and guests, as well as the Ball Committee, which resulted in a net profit of more than $1,131,000.

Thank you!
