Spotlight on Debussy
October 18 to 28, 2012
After marking the anniversaries of Haydn, Handel and Schumann, the Arte Musica Foundation honours Claude Debussy (1862-1918) this fall, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth.
"Music must humbly seek to give pleasure," Debussy once said. The originality, boldness and seductive power of this great modern composer's piano works, chamber music and melodies still delight today and continue to attract a wide following among audiences.
We are pleased to welcome internationally established pianists, such as Jean-Philippe Collard and Michel Béroff, some of the OSM's first chairs, as well as a promising young soprano, Kimy McLaren, to Bourgie Hall for the six concerts in this series.
Lectures presented in the Maxwell Cummings Auditorium will complete the series. Consult the Cultural Activities brochure of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts or our website for more details.
Please join us in this exploration of the rich, fascinating world of Claude Debussy!
