ARTE MUSICA FOUNDATION
The Arte Musica Foundation was created in September 2007 by Montreal businessman Pierre Bourgie, renowned for his long-standing commitment to the cultural life of the city. It is headed by Isolde Lagacé, who has a wealth of experience in the arts field as a manager, musician and educator. The establishment of this foundation was prompted by the construction of a new Canadian art pavilion, the Claire and Marc Bourgie Pavilion, which will incorporate a concert hall, to be called the Bourgie Hall, in the former nave of the Erskine and American Church. This 450-seat venue, scheduled to open in September 2011, will in particular provide an ideal setting for chamber music concerts.
The mission of the Arte Musica Foundation is to develop musical programming at the Museum. Its actions are guided by a focus on the presentation and promotion of music concerts, and on the development of its audiences through organizing a host of educational activities.
The Foundation began its musical activities in September 2008, and its first year of operations at the Museum enabled a number of new musical programmes to meet with resounding success.
