Drawing from the Old Masters

Welcome to the Museum’s School of Art for 6-week classes!

Thursdays, April 23 to May 28
9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

The tradition of figurative art arose out of the observation of nature, coupled with a rigorous technical process. Together, they can result in strikingly realistic drawings. Since the Renaissance, artists have revolutionized the way they capture the human body in movement and its volume of shapes. In this course, participants will learn more about the evolution of drawing from live models and from sculptures in the Museum’s galleries by working with these techniques that have been handed down through the centuries. Graphite, charcoal and chalk techniques will be used on various types of paper.
