Welcome to the Museum’s School of Art for 6-week classes!
Thursdays, April 23 to May 28
1.30 to 4.30 p.m.
In this series, participants will explore rendering deep and shallow space in painting and as well as by collage. Painting techniques such as scumbling and glazing as well colour mixing and colour juxtaposition will be covered. An active process of creation and questioning will further foster appreciation for the visual arts that will engage participants well beyond the weekly meetings.

List of materials needed:
Willow or vine charcoal, graphite, gum eraser for sketching and drawing ; Painting tools: acrylic brushes of varying sizes and formats – make sure to have at least one large brush. Blue shop towels or rags, palette knife, disposable palette ; Old magazines (in color) if you have any. ; Supports: a preferably recyclable 9 x 12” sketchbook.
Canvas pad no smaller than 12 x 16”. ; Paints: cadmium red medium, cadmium yellow, phtalo blue, ultramarine blue, titanium white, iron oxide black, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, raw umber, (dioaxine violet, paynes gray optional) ; Paint mediums: Acrylic: Gel medium, a retarder is optional to slow down drying time.
In order for the classes in the Museum’s Art School to be stimulating for both the participants and the instructor, we require a minimum of 5 students for a class to run. If there are not enough registrations, we will contact you as soon as possible to suggest either an alternative class or give you a total refund.
General Public: $300
VIP’s and those under 30 years old: $270
Refund policy: A full refund, minus a $50 administration fee, will be issued for cancellations received up to 10 days prior to the start of the activity. No refunds are issued for cancellations received less than 10 days prior to the activity, unless the cancellation is made for reasons of force majeure. In such case, please contact us to obtain a full refund.
