Short guided meditations will aid a “first thought, best stroke” approach in this experimental mixed media workshop. Hot wax resist, oil sticks, pumice textured acrylics and black ink will be used to adorn Japanese washi paper. Transparent acrylic washes will be applied for consistent colour and unity. The final project will include a large sheet of premium-quality Japanese washi or canvas.

Exceptionally, registration for this course is limited to ten people
Materials to bring:
White plastic table cloth, cut in 2 pieces, clear spray bottle, toothbrush, duct tape + 2’ long twig or stick, jars with lids – 3-5 medium sized for washes, ink etc., brushes-1 flat, 1 medium sized calligraphy style round, 1- #6 teklon nylon round, 1 Arches watercolour paper, 22×30”, cold press, medium surface OR 20×16”prepared canvas, 1 oil stick or oil pastel –your colour choice- Sennelier, Rembrant, transparent liquid acrylics or inks (avoid pastel colours please), 1 Arches watercolour paper, 22×30”, cold press, medium surface OR 20×16”prepared canvas
Best quality Japanese* or other high quality liquid ink, 2 sheets usukuchi heavy Japanese washi, 1 sheet seichosen yotsuban or kozo

Cost for the serie:
General Public: $200
VIP’s and those under 30 years old: $180
Cancellations made seven (7) business days or more before the first class for which you registered will be refunded in full, less a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will be granted for cancellations made less than seven (7) business days before the activity begins, unless the cancellation is made for medical reasons, in which case a doctor’s note is required and fees will be refunded in full.
