This series is first and foremost an introduction that will enable participants to experiment with and understand colour phenomena, put these notions to use in their future creative work and appreciate a number of masterpieces. In the workshop, they will do practical exercises using gouache. A study of colour based on the principles of Johannes Itten (1888-1967), professor at the Bauhaus, and other theorists.

List of materials needed:
Graphite pencils (HB, 2B) ; Eraser ; Ruler ; Optional small square ; Notebook ; Rags to clean brushes or paper towels ; Plate or palette to mix colours ; Container for water ; Gouache (3 primaries and black and white) or set of 12 Pébéo Gouache poster paints 2 soft paint brushes for watercolour, short handle # 6 and 4 ; Illustration board – Peterboro # 27, 15X10 inches.
A small cost for photocopies, colour wheel that will be cheaper and easier for you than to bring yourself
In order for the classes in the Museum’s Art School to be stimulating for both the participants and the instructor, we require a minimum of 5 students for a class to run. If there are not enough registrations, we will contact you as soon as possible to suggest either an alternative class or give you a total refund.
General Public: $400
VIP’s and those under 30 years old: $360
Refund policy: A full refund, minus a $50 administration fee, will be issued for cancellations received up to 10 days prior to the start of the activity. No refunds are issued for cancellations received less than 10 days prior to the activity, unless the cancellation is made for reasons of force majeure. In such case, please contact us to obtain a full refund.
