L'étoile de la mer - Les Idées Heureuses

Les Idées heureuses

This concert features compositions inspired by one of the great medieval poems, Alma Redemptoris Mater.  The compositions span four centuries, from the 14th to the 18th century, and all use Alma Redemptoris Mater as a starting point. As most of the pieces are rather short, we will weave them into each other to create an atmosphere not unlike a delicate tapestry, thus invoking Mary's tenderness. It is she who is named "the star of the sea" in this poem.
