Reservations must be made by phone, at least three weeks in advance.

CONFIRMATION AND BILLING BY EMAIL

You will receive a letter of confirmation and invoice by email. Please check them over carefully. Payment in full may be made in advance or on the day the activity takes place.

POLICY REGARDING CHANGES OR CANCELLATION – ONLY BY PHONE

Up to twelve (12) business days before the event, if our timetable permits, we may accept changes. You will be given a confirmation number. No changes will be accepted less than twelve (12) business days before the event, and billing will be maintained.

GROUP RATES

The prices listed are for a class of 30 students or fewer at the primary or secondary levels, or a group of 22 children or fewer from a kindergarten, nursery school or daycare. Please note that this price is a group rate and is not based on the exact number of students.

GROUPS: VISIT WITHOUT A GUIDE

Call 514-285-2000, option 3 to reserve for groups of 20 people or to visit the collections or major exhibitions without a guide. Please note that a supervising adult must accompany the group at all times and maintain discipline. We recommend one adult per 15 students.

GETTING THERE

By school bus: There is a reserved bus zone on Bishop Street.

By metro: Guy-Concordia station (green line), a five-minute walk to the Museum. By the 24 bus: along Sherbrooke Street West, Bishop Street stop (east-bound) and Redpath Street stop (west-bound).

MONITORS’ ROLE

Divide each class into two teams with a maximum of fifteen students each (eleven students for preschool groups).

Stay with the group at all times to maintain discipline and help those who need individual attention. Please let the mediator or Museum Guide lead the visit. Monitors are responsible for supervision at mealtimes.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

Backpacks, umbrellas and food and drink are prohibited in the galleries.

Body in motion NEW!

The human body has been the favourite subject of sculptors across the ages, causing us to take a reflective look at movement, diversity and the transformations that occur over a lifetime. As the vehicle for emotions, the body takes different shapes, according to the creator’s intentions. In this tour, students will be introduced to basic sculpture techniques and then experiment with modelling a person themselves.

Are we several people at once? What influence does our environment have on our identity? Are we our bodies? Through discussions and reflection, students will explore the theme of identity through the international contemporary art collection.

Alexander Calder, Radical Inventor NEW!

Calder is known as the “American who incorporated motion into sculpture.” He invented a new language based on both art and science and caused the terms mobile and stabile to be coined in order to describe his creations. This tour will give students an appreciation of the importance of movement and gesture in Calder’s work as well as of his fascinating play with colour, balance and mass.

In collaboration with Arte Musica, we are delighted to offer you an experience that combines music and visual arts in connection with the exhibition Alexander Calder: Radical Inventor. The show Balance and Imbalance will showcase two outstanding Montreal pianists, Janelle Fung and Philip Chiu. Joining them on stage, three circus artists will recreate the world of Cirque Calder in their own way.
