6 years ago, Bourgie Hall began its presentation of the complete sacred cantatas of J.S. Bach. This corpus remains to this day a linchpin in classical music's history: Bach's important compositional innovations echoed through the centuries and are still revered today. This musical marathon spans 8 seasons, consisting of a concert on the last Sunday of each month during the regular season. Curious and faithful audience members gather to hear these remarkable works performed by Canadian and international ensembles, and to sing in chorus the final chorale of each concert.
In the first year of this project, La Fabrique culturelle produced a series of videos that we would like to share with you in the following weeks.
Bourgie Hall's artistic director and instigator of the Complete Cantatas of Bach, Isolde Lagacé, confided the first concert of this project to Kent Nagano and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. In this video, Maestro Nagano shares the joy of his experience on stage, and his lifelong respect for the work of J.S. Bach.
