Organized by the Foundation of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA), the Museum Ball is the MMFA’s most important annual fundraiser. The 2022 edition is to be held on November 26 with Maxime Ménard, President and CEO of Jarislowsky Fraser, as Honorary Chair and Jean-François Côté, President and CEO of Sharethrough, as Co-Chair. The multidisciplinary artist Françoise Sullivan will be the guest of honour of this prestigious event presented by Scotiabank.

This year, the Museum Ball is inviting 650 guests from the business, philanthropy and arts communities, who are loyal supporters of the institution. They will be given an opportunity to visit the major exhibition Seeing Loud: Basquiat and Music before sitting down to a gourmet meal in galleries adorned with four ephemeral murals created by Swiss artist Nicolas Party for his exhibition L’heure mauve. The seven spectacular banquet halls will be expertly decorated to create an enchanting atmosphere, full of colour.

Multidisciplinary artist Françoise Sullivan to be guest of honour

Quebec painter, sculptor, dancer and choreographer Françoise Sullivan has accepted the MMFA’s invitation to be the guest of honour at this edition of the Ball. A signatory to the Refus global manifesto and named an Officer of the Ordre de Montréal in 2017, her work can be found in the country’s largest private and public collections, and was the subject of a solo exhibition at the Museum in 2003. The MMFA wishes to pay tribute to this grande dame of the arts community, who will be turning 100 next year.

“Art plays an essential role in society as well as in our lives, whether in providing us with comfort, filling us with wonder, or opening us up to new perspectives,” says Maxime Ménard, President and CEO of Jarislowsky Fraser. “That is why I am extremely pleased to be Honorary Chair of the Museum Ball, an evening equally essential in ensuring the sustainability of the activities of the MMFA, a jewel among Montreal cultural institutions.”

“The Museum Ball is without a doubt Montreal’s biggest art philanthropy event, and it is an honour for me to cochair it with Maxime Ménard. This evening benefiting culture is always amazing and I am certain that its 2022 edition will be a real success,” says Jean-François Côté, President and CEO of Sharethrough.

The Museum Ball is the MMFA Foundation’s most important fundraising event. Stéphane Aquin, Director of the MMFA, and Jo-Anne Hudon Duchesne, Director General of the MMFA Foundation, are delighted that it will be held once again this coming November. The artistic direction and decorating will be carried out by Anne-Séguin Poirier, who has headed a number of major design projects, including for Cirque du Soleil and Les 7 doigts de la main.
