This workshop will demonstrate that high-quality portraits are within your reach, even with the use of a simple cellphone*.

Thanks to a lavishly illustrated presentation and a dynamic teaching style, you’ll discover “photo” and “portrait” modes, as well as how to personalize your exposure settings and creatively use photographic blur. You’ll learn how to master composition, posing and framing to create successful portraits using natural daylight. You’ll also discover that the best portraits are often done at home, with ambient light.

In addition to exploring basic retouching techniques available on any phone, we’ll investigate the emotional power of black and white photography.

Instructor: Michel Proulx, artist and art educator
