He will speak on the photographic art of his frequent collaborator and close friend Richard Avedon, exploring his vision of aging artists, his purposes in portraiture, and the enduring importance of his work.

Speaker:

His books include Paris to the Moon, The King in the Window, Through the Children’s Gate, At the Strangers’ Gate and Winter: Five Windows on the Season (the fiftieth-anniversary Massey Lecture). His work in musical theatre includes the libretto and lyrics for the musical comedies Our Table with David Shire and Fairy Tale with Andrew Lippa, as well as the opera The Swerve with Stewart Wallace.
