Patrons and leading figures from Montreal’s business, culture, and political communities gathered under the theme of freedom—the freedom to be oneself, to love, to create, to innovate—at the country’s oldest art museum to celebrate the 65th edition of the Museum Ball. The benefit gala, which is crucial to ensuring the future of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA), raised $2 million in support of the institution.

Presented by IG Private Wealth Management, this year’s spectacular edition was a celebration of Quebec and Canadian art, and paid special tribute to the season’s signature exhibition, Kent Monkman: History Is Painted by the Victors. The gala was co-chaired by Erik Ryan, Special Advisor on Stakeholder Engagement at AtkinsRéalis; Jérôme Pécresse, Chief Executive, Aluminium & Lithium at Rio Tinto; Tracy Robinson, President and CEO of CN; and Alexandre L’Heureux, President and CEO, WSP Global.

Fogo Island Inn Executive Chef Timothy Charles was the talent behind the gourmet menu featuring exquisite flavours from Newfoundland, while the MMFA Foundation and Agence Niché teamed up to provide artistic direction for the gala. Guests also had the opportunity to admire a banquet hall designed by visual artist Rénée Condo, a member of the Mi'kmaq community of Gesgapegiag and the event’s partner-artist and set designer. In addition, dozens of works by Quebec and Canadian artists were on display for the occasion.

The next edition of the Museum Ball will take place November 7, 2026.
