Françoise Sullivan was born in 1923 in Montreal. A multidisciplinary artist, she was a founding member of the Automatistes group and a signatory of the Refus global manifesto. She began her career as a successful dancer and choreographer, before transitioning to sculpture, conceptual art and painting, a practice she has pursued ever since. In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the United States and Europe, she took part in the exhibition On Line at the MoMA (New York, 2010) as well as the more recent Surrealism Beyond Borders at The Met (New York, 2021-2022) and the Tate Modern (London, 2022). She has earned many prestigious distinctions, including the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts and the title of Officer of the Order of Canada.
Florence-Agathe Dubé-Moreau is an independent contemporary art curator, author and columnist. She holds a master’s degree in art history from the Université du Québec à Montréal, where she studied the agency of exhibition reenactments. Florence-Agathe served as a consultant to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 2022 and 2023, and in 2020 was the first artistic director of Projet Casa, an alternative art exhibition space she helped create. Over the past decade, she has produced a number of critically acclaimed and award-winning exhibitions and texts. Her most recent projects, presented at the Stewart Hall Art Gallery in 2023 and at the Galerie de l'UQAM in 2023, focus on the links between dance, theatre and curating.
