As part of the Black Atlantic Networks symposium, the MMFA invites you to a special talk with internationally renowned curator Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung.

In conversation with Cheryl Sim, he will reflect on his extraordinary career and the thoughts that inspire his practice today.

About the series
In its Special Guest series, the MMFA invites leading specialists to offer their cutting-edge view on the arts and museums.

About the speakers
Prof. Dr. Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung is a curator, author and biotechnologist, currently serving as Director and Chief Curator of Haus der Kulturen der Welt, in Berlin. He is the founder of SAVVY Contemporary, and was the chief curator of the 36th Biennale of São Paulo, curator of documenta 14 and guest curator of the 13th Biennale of Dakar.

Cheryl Sim is Director and Chief Curator at PHI, where she has overseen the exhibitions Yoko Ono: Growing Freedom (2019) and Relations: Diaspora and Painting (2020), among others. Sim is also a media artist whose practice incorporates her background in media studies and research on post-colonial strategies in contemporary art practice. Her video and installation work has been presented in exhibitions and festivals in North America and Europe. In 2015, she completed her PhD in the Études et pratiques des arts program at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Her dissertation became the book titled, Wearing the Cheongsam: Dress and Culture in a Chinese Diaspora, published by Bloomsbury Academic in 2019.
