MMFA x Les Affûtés: Wood engraving

In connection with the exhibition Parall(elles): A History of Women in Design, the Museum’s School for the Arts has teamed up with Montreal-based community workshop Les Affûtés to offer a variety of courses that teach handicraft skills! Please note that these courses are given in French.

During this 3-hour workshop, Laurence Blache will introduce you to the basics of wood engraving by creating a personalized negative print on solid wood! You will learn about different textures, gouge carving techniques, how to create your own design on a wooden matrix, and different inking techniques.

Everyone will leave with their own kit (unique print, ink, and roller) to create all types of projects (greeting cards, logos, notebooks, fabric printing…).
