In 1940, young Jules and his family move to live with his uncle Jovite in northern Quebec. One day, Jules’ dog wanders into the nearby forest without his master. Jules must do the same to find his four-legged companion. Out in the wild, he meets a young girl named Asha, who helps him explore the surroundings, seeing them in a new light. Together, they venture to the other side of the forest, where nature reveals itself to be full of life and secrets.
