Whether alone or in a group, this is your chance to express yourself freely – no pressure, no judgement – as you experiment with different techniques and materials: sculpting with clay, collage, gouache, engraving, drawing, etc.

Take part in a creative workshop at the Art Hive in the company of our mediators, and explore this unique space.
Coffee and tasty snacks provided by Aube Café will be served in The Salon starting at 10 a.m.

Put on your comfy shoes and get ready to discover YOUR Museum as our guides lead you on a tour of some of the MMFA’s pavilions! This is your chance to admire remarkable works and learn more about the history of art.

Discovery Days FAQ

The tour of the pavilions lasts approximately 1.5 hours and is led by our volunteer guides, who will help you (re)discover the Museum’s collection.

The Art Hive workshop, facilitated by our team of mediators, also lasts 1.5 hours, giving you enough time to explore and take advantage of this unique space.

It’s up to you! You can choose to do the guided tour before the Art Hive workshop, or vice versa. For example, you could participate in the Art Hive workshop from 10:30 to noon, and then take the tour from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

And if you’re short on time, don’t worry, you can always just select one of the activities.

The guided tours depart from The Salon, located on the 2nd floor of the Jean-Noël Desmarais Pavilion, which can be accessed using the elevator or staircase (yes, the one that gives a whole new meaning to taking the stairs!).

To participate in the workshop, go to the Art Hive located on Level S1 of the Jean-Noël Desmarais Pavilion (next to Claude Cormier’s wall of plush toys).

It’s important to be on time to ensure the smooth running of the activities.

The Art Hive is a creative community studio supervised by an art therapist and a museum facilitator, where art materials are provided free of charge.

The MMFA’s Art Hive is the only one of its kind established in a museum. It’s part of the International Art Hives Network (arthives.org), a community organization whose influence extends throughout the world.

Take a moment to enjoy a good coffee and pastries, offered starting at 10 a.m. in The Salon, on the 2nd floor of the Jean-Noël Desmarais Pavilion.

Depending on weather conditions, don’t forget to leave your coat and umbrella in the Members’ cloakroom (in the entrance hall of the Jean-Noël Desmarais Pavilion) before heading to The Salon.
