From dusk to 11 p.m. the facade of the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion of the MMFA will be illuminated with the projection of EVER MORE. This new video creation by immersive art pioneer Kurt Hentschläger is the fifth commission for the MMFA’s Digital Canvas.
New York based Austrian artist Kurt Hentschläger made his mark at the turn of the 21st century as a member of the groundbreaking duo GRANULAR≈SYNTHESIS. He is known for his immersive installations and audiovisual performances that have strong perceptual effects.
In EVER MORE, he explores the emergence of a hybrid nature—an amalgamation of physical and virtual elements that blend together seamlessly. Edited, animated, and composited video recordings of wild plants and flowers from the Michigan prairies are interwoven with effects, lighting and 3D-synthesized landscapes.
This moving nature, which might suggest a celebration of the physical world, instead masks the exploitation, depletion and accelerating the unravelling of natural habitats across the globe.
This captivating work is on view until April 5, 2026.
