Quebec and Canadian Art
Attention to the stages of creation and the process of research and execution that result in a finished work were integral to Leduc’s way of thinking. This is apparent in the still lifes exhibited here, composed of objects from the artist’s studio. Observing his immediate surroundings and depicting them in trompe-l’oeil served as a point of departure for allegories of the creative moment that arises from art itself.
