Suzor-Coté gave this bronze to the Art Association in 1931, when it was shown at the Spring Exhibition. The bust represents the very archetype of a bishop. As one journalist wrote, “It is not a portrait of a bishop but a study of a French-Canadian model, which has all the dignity and strength that might be expected of a bishop.”
