This sword is a blend of Eastern and Western influences; the Punjabi-style hilt, typically found on talwars (curved swords), is finely chiselled in relief and thickly overlaid with gold. Beside the refined damascened decoration, the inner surface of the hilt’s knuckle guard features a formulaic inscription in elegant gold Gurmukhi calligraphy.
