Bakeapples, Partridgeberries and Tea Teapot

Since 1991, Michael Massie has handcrafted one or two silver teapots a year. Drawing from his Scottish, Inuit and Métis ancestry, Massie gives this teapot the form of an ulu, a crescent-shaped knife used by Inuit women, in an homage to both his grandmother’s love of tea and her go-to household utensil. Acid-etched images of bakeapples and partridgeberries evoke his childhood memories of picking berries in Labrador.
