- Berthe Weill, 1902
Berthe Weill… The name doesn’t ring a bell?
It should! Berthe Weill was an incredibly astute art dealer who played a seminal role in the emergence of Modern art. She was the first person to sell a Picasso, to exhibit artists such as Matisse, Derain and van Dongen, and to show the works of Diego Rivera in France. She is also the only gallery owner to have mounted a solo exhibition of Modigliani’s work during the artist’s lifetime.
Immerse yourself in the Paris of the Belle Époque and learn about the fascinating life and career of this trailblazing woman while discovering over 100 extraordinary paintings and sculptures.
