Women of Influence Circle Welcomes its New President

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Françoise E. Lyon as President of the Women of Influence Circle, a group of women patrons who value the presence of women at the MMFA. A reminder that Ms. Lyon was the initiator of this project, and women joined the Women of Influence Circle under her leadership.

“The role of women is never a certainty and the initiative of the Museum through the creation of the Women of Influence Circle is a wonderful way to showcase the outstanding work of inspiring women artists. It is therefore with great pleasure that I accept the presidency of the Women of Influence Circle,” says founding member Ms. Lyon.

Ms. Lyon has a BBA HEC Montréal and a certificate in Public Relations Management cum laude from McGill University. Since 2011, she has held the position of Senior Vice President at Pembroke Private Wealth Management. She has over 20 years of experience in management positions within the finance industry and is a member of several boards of directors in Quebec, Canada and abroad. President of the Montreal Chapter of the International Women's Forum since 2013, Ms. Lyon is also distinguished by being the first Canadian to hold the presidency of the Board of Directors of the IWF Leadership Foundation, which includes 27 women from 11 different countries.

The Women of Influence Circle was created by the Museum Foundation in 2015 as part of the Beaver Hall Group exhibition. This Circle thus brought together influential women who wanted to commit to supporting the presence of women at the MMFA in three ways: through exhibitions devoted to women artists, through the acquisition of works by women artists, and finally through free access to the Museum for community organizations that assist women in need such as Herstreet, the Women's Centre of Verdun, Les Scientifines, Madame Prend Congé, Concertation Femme, Chez Doris, L'Echo des femmes de la Petite-Patrie, Femmes du Monde, Collectif des femmes immigrantes du Québec, Women’s Y Foundation Montreal, Women’s Centre of Montreal, Halte-Femmes Montréal-Nord, Info-femmes Inc., Centre des femmes de Montréal-Est, Pointe-aux-Trembles.

At least 350 women have benefited from the Museum's exhibitions through guided tours and workshops.
