Bringing together local artists interested in organic and human forms, the MMFA explores the themes in the exhibition Georgia O'Keeffe and Henry Moore: Giants of Modern Art, echoes of which can be found in current artists’ practices. This presentation describes how Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986), born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, came to be one of the most recognized American artists and the first woman in this country to achieve such iconic status for her contribution in her lifetime. In English. Free event.

In this workshop, young children and their parents are invited to have fun experimenting and using their imagination. Set up with different art-making stations, families will get to try new creative activities like making a landscape out of stamps in organic shapes. Creative workshop designed for children aged 2 to 5 years, accompanied by an adult. Free activity.

Modern artists have long observed elements of the human figure in the natural world. Families are invited to draw inspiration from this approach and create their own modern sculpture out of clay. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult (note that young children will need ongoing supervision during the activity). Saturday and Sunday. Free activity.

Henry Moore’s and Georgia O’Keeffe’s artistic practices were strongly influenced by the natural world. Inspired by their personal studios, this activity allows participants to try their own hat at observing, drawing and transforming the materials – bones, stones, shells and wood – that shaped the modern vision of these major artists.
