The Old Holton House shows the lot on Sherbrooke Street that the Art Association’s Art Gallery occupied as of 1912. Morrice probably painted it before the Holton property was handed over in March 1910. His father, David Morrice, a generous donor and Life Member of the Association, served on the building committee for the new Art Gallery. This painting was one of the first two by Morrice that entered the collection in 1915.
