This blanket is the first work given to the Art Association by the Canadian Handicraft Guild, in 1919, when F. Cleveland Morgan was the Guild’s president. Only the chest that contained it – later attributed to the Heiltsuk (Bella Bella) artist Captain Carpenter – was included in the exhibition Canadian West Coast Art: Native and Modern in 1928. Lent to McGill University later that year, it is now on deposit at the McCord Museum.
