ARC Ensemble (Toronto)

Chamber Music

Many Jewish artists were forced to flee Europe in the early 20th century. Among those who emigrated in the face of rising persecution were the four composers on this programme—artists whose Jewish heritage profoundly shaped their music. These pieces give pride of place to the clarinet, a beloved instrument in Jewish folk music.
