Les Idées heureuses - Chaconne et chocolat : délectations arabes

Guest presenters

For the 6th edition of the Chaconne and Chocolate series, after exploring France, Italy, Germany, and England, Les Idées heureuses ventures into a world of enchanting chaconnes at the crossroads of Baroque and Arabic music!

At the heart of this program: the chaconne, an iconic musical form of the Baroque repertoire, recognizable by its repeated bass line. By turns meditative, dance-like, and at times almost incantatory, it creates a space conducive to transformation and improvisation. In this concert, it becomes a true space for dialogue between cultures, blending the tonal system with modal tradition, combining ornamentation in a musical hybridization where repetition evokes emotion, tension, and freedom.

The sublime voices of Haitham Haidar and Lamia Yared will take the audience on a journey through centuries of musical history, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble featuring ouds, theorboes, violin, percussion, and clavicytherium.

A sweet chocolate treat will be given to audience members as they leave the concert!
