Tabea Zimmermann
Recognized as one of the finest violists of her generation, Tabea Zimmermann has built over several decades a career marked by rare artistic rigor and boundless curiosity. Trained in Germany and thrust into the international spotlight at a very young age, she has distinguished herself through the depth of her playing, her architectural sense of musical form, and her unwavering commitment to contemporary repertoire. A sought-after chamber musician, a soloist invited by the world’s leading orchestras, a devoted teacher, and an inspiring figure for many young performers, she embodies musical excellence and integrity.
It is in this spirit that Tabea Zimmermann returns to Montreal, this time in duo with pianist Javier Perianes. Together, they offer a program that moves between passion and introspection—from Schumann to Britten, culminating in the poignant Viola Sonata by Shostakovich, completed in 1975 at the very end of the composer’s life. A truly special moment.
