After three editions at Carleton University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in Ottawa, we are bringing the 2017 Power of the Arts Forum to Montreal. Thanks to a blossoming partnership with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the dynamic gathering will see hundreds convened at the Museum, between February 16 and 18, 2018. Celebrating the 375th anniversary of Montreal and Canada’s 150th anniversary, participants from Quebec and across Canada will enjoy an assortment of keynote speakers and performances, while contributing to strategic planning in workshops, focused on LEVERAGING ARTS AS WEAPONS FOR PEACE.
Key players from Canada’s cultural, business, political, health, justice, and civil society sectors will convene to lay the groundwork for a new pan-Canadian arts blueprint for peace, equity, and collective prosperity. Here, participants will share best practices, ideas and strategies on using arts to advance a culture of peace, social cohesion, dialogue, mutual understanding and equity in Canada, as a bulwark against a world at risk of losing its moral compass.
Punctuated by dynamic cultural performances, workshops, thematic debates and plenary sessions, the Forum, bilingual and open to the general public, will see a roster of Canadian and international presenters and performers.
