Lesson #3 - Editing

Continuity, montage, rhythm, and point of view shape our understanding of time, character, and narrative in films. Mary Harron’s AMERICAN PSYCHO, exemplifies how editing, including the Kuleshov effect, are illusions to create continuity and meaning.

Synopsis

In 1987, New York City investment banker Patrick Bateman leads a double life, meticulously maintaining a polished social façade while harboring murderous impulses.

Cinéma du Musée is proud to announce the launch of FILM 101, a new series dedicated to film appreciation and education.

Designed for aspiring cinephiles, lifelong students, and lovers of classic cinema, FILM 101 presents five films that explore the language of the seventh art.

Throughout the series, participants will discover fundamental elements of cinematic language and develop the tools needed to better observe, analyze, and discuss the art of filmmaking. Each screening will be accompanied by a short introduction to provide context on the subject, followed by an informal discussion to deepen the analysis and connect with fellow film lovers.
