Beethoven and Schubert: Intimations

Complete Schubert Lieder: Year 3

Beethoven was young Schubert's idol. In his songs, Schubert often set the same texts and explored the same themes as Beethoven did—the legend of Faust, solitude, the faraway beloved. With this program, Thomas Dolié and Olivier Godin illuminate these close connections.

Jean Portugais will give a pre-concert lecture entitled “Schubert and Beethoven” at 5 p.m. Click here for more details.
