When night falls on Saturday, February 29, the ancient residents of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) will come to life through the magic of science! Take part in the Nuit blanche à Montréal to discover or rediscover the Egyptian mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives exhibition for half price ($12). Presented in its North American premiere at the MMFA, this exhibition produced by the British Museum uses an innovative approach that combines art and science to reconstruct the lives of six people who lived along the Nile between 900 BCE and 180 CE.
From 5:00 p.m. to midnight, visitors will enjoy a special rate to the exhibition and get access to free activities:
- Collective workshops to make hieroglyphs and a wishing tree
Night owls can contribute to a collective mural of recycled papyrus inspired by the exhibition’s hieroglyphs. A tree will also extend its branches inside the Museum with original leaves that visitors can create and use to make a wish for the planet.
6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Musical performance and tasting of products from Quebec and the Middle East
To get the dance floor moving, DJ Shirine will give a musical performance inspired by Egyptian culture. Middle Eastern specialties will be served alongside Quebec beers produced at eco-friendly micro-breweries.
8:00 p.m. to midnight
