Pierre-Mercure Festival

From February 19 to 21, 2027, Bourgie Hall presents the Pierre-Mercure Festival, celebrating 100 years since the birth of the great Quebec composer.
Pierre Mercure (1927–1966) was one of the most influential musicians of his time, both as a composer and as a musical television producer. He worked alongside a host of renowned artists, applying his exceptional creative mind to original compositions and TV programs that reward (re)listening and (re)watching to this day.
Co-produced with the Festival Montréal/Nouvelles Musiques and the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ).
In anticipation of the Festival, a free event will be presented at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on August 22, 2026, with support from Montréal’s Cultural Development Agreement with the Gouvernement du Québec. The short film La forme des choses, scored by Pierre Mercure, showcases the 11 sculptures by international artists that stand across from Maison Smith in the Parc du Mont-Royal.
H2O per Severino, Mercure’s last work, will be performed live, rounding out this late summer afternoon of film, sculpture and music.
